Stop the Traffick

On February 6, 2011, Dallas Fort Worth will host the 45th annual Super Bowl.

The weeks leading up to this event are filled with excitement and hype, but below the surface there is an unmentioned dark side. When the Super Bowl was in Phoenix, Arizona in 2008 an estimated 50,000 women and children were bought and sold for sexual purchase.

  • The I-10 Corridor is the number one route for sexual trafficking within the United States.
  • On any given night on the streets in Dallas, there are over 1, 000 kids on the streets for the purpose of sex trafficking.
  • 15% of Texas calls to the National Human Trafficking hotline come from the DFW area.

How is it that there are more people enslaved today than when William Wilberforce and other abolitionists fought the fight? How is it that the church is largely unaware of this problem?

Men, Women, and Children are traffcked across borders at a rate of 1 every minute.

Trafficking is a silent, underlying part of the DFW culture. It is the fastest growing form of international crime.

If we truly believe the Gospel, then we are compelled to stand up for the cause of the least of these. If we are really intent on living lives through the Gospel, then we must 8 Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of tthe poor and needy. (Proverbs 31:8-9)

On Sunday, November 7th, theGATHERING will be hosting a unique experience during the 9:15 Connection Hour where we will

raise awareness for the silent victims,

worship the God that liberates the captives,

pray for urgency to help solve the problem with the Gospel, and

sound the alarm, a call to action.
