bambino or bambina?
Hearing your baby's heartbeat never gets old. This time, however, we had two other little ones in the office with us. They were wide-eyed and filled with wonder seeing hands, feet, heart, head, and eye sockets! 18 weeks along and we could count the little toes. Bella is pumped - we're having a little bambina! Sophia Ruth Lucarelli will make her debut around November 11th!
We've always loved this name for a couple of reasons--Sophia (σοφία) is the Greek word for wisdom. We really like the use of it in Colossians 2:3
that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
In Jesus we have all of the treasures of σοφία!
Ruth is a family name. It is Becky's middle name, her Mom's middle name, and my grand-mother's first name. We, of course, also love the concept of Kinsman Redeemer that is seen in the life of Ruth in the Bible, foreshadowing our redemption through Jesus.
